Consent Counts!: Our communities’ major sexual freedom initiative (Course overview)
Susan Wright will be assisted in this workshop by Judy Guerin and Richard O. Cunningham, B.S., M.A., J.D

This interactive discussion will familiarize you with legal issues surrounding BDSM and consent and the Consent Counts project.

Although things have certainly improved for us over the years, we still have significant legal, political and societal issues facing us. The majority of us are not “out of the closet”, still fearing the very real threat of being prosecuted or losing our jobs or families. BDSM is still prosecuted criminally as assault, and the legal precedents that we inherited from the early years related to consensual BDSM prosecutions as assault are not in our favor. Many of the laws intended to protect victims of domestic violence and rape need to be modified to exempt consensual BDSM activities. Come learn what you should know about Consent Counts and how you can help.
