So does that mean anything goes? I've been hearing people put down "safe, sane, consensual" for nearly 20 years, but in my experience, there's a valuable lesson in SSC for everyone, not just those who are kinky. And yes, I know it's more unsafe to cross the street. Duh! That's not the point. The point is that what we do can look an awful lot like assault to the authorities. In fact, more and more people are being arrested for sexual assault years after scenes or relationships have ended. I used to think that SSC was for the bottoms, but after seeing so many tops caught up in the criminal justice system recently, I think any top who doesn't follow some form of SSC is playing Russian Roulette with their future. You may think you're a "real" Master while you're doing your consensual nonconsent scenes, whether it's 24/7 or for 15 minutes, but in reality - ironically - you're handing over ALL the power to your submissive. That's because in America, there is no such thing as giving up consent.
